The Team

Dr Anthony Farrugia (LL.D.)

Anthony P. Farrugia, is a second generation, highly experienced commercial lawyer, in practice for over 35 years. He is the Senior Partner of his family run law firm Anthony P. Farrugia & Associates.

He graduated as Doctor of Laws from Malta University at 22 years of age, and immediately took up a position within the family practice. Operating initially as a general practitioner, he was exposed to a wide range of legal matters, gaining valuable experience in matrimonial disputes and settlements, maritime work, civil litigation through to serious criminal trials. For the past 10 years, Anthony whilst still running a general practice has concentrated on commercial and company law.

He is the founder of LegumServi, an international affiliation of highly qualified professionals, working together but independently as preferred partners, each offering different specialisations, thereby allowing members the ability to offer their clients a vast range of non-core services, in-house.

As a very young lawyer Anthony concluded one of the largest and most complicated Fire Insurance disputes ever seen in Malta. This high profile litigation, and ultimately its successful settlement, led to Anthony acting as consultant for several major companies including para-statal entities, where he has been instrumental in the negotiation and mostly successful conclusion of what were at times, very sensitive issues. Anthony’s vast experience in commerce allows him to intervene with authority in areas which require cross table negotiation, dispute settlement, board representation or company structuring/re-structuring. He is fully conversant with international banking process requirements and regularly represents and/or advises clients negotiating commercial bank funding or repayment proposals.

His practice within the field of company law, involves assisting clients with purpose-cut corporate structures with appropriate fiscal planning to suit specific business plans.

Although his business is his pleasure (apologies to Xaviera Hollander), Anthony’s other interests include sailing, music of various genres, football (Man.Utd), driving muscle cars, and travel, none of which are sufficiently indulged.

Dr. David Farrugia LL.D, M.A (Fin.Serv.).

David Farrugia graduated as a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) from the University of Malta in December of 2013.

In his final years as a student (2012-2013), he attended the Universita di Roma Tre in Rome, Italy where he studied and sat for examinations in the subjects of “Anglo American Company Law” and “International Economic Dispute Settlement Law”. In part fulfillment of his doctorate degree, he submitted a thesis entitled Procedures in the Adjudication of Company Insolvency. Selected Issues.

In January 2014, David obtained his warrant and has since then been practicing as a lawyer in a variety of legal fields and currently holds the position of an Associate at Anthony P. Farrugia & Associates, LegumServi.

As a result of LegumServi being an “all practice” firm, David has been exposed to various areas of the law including Corporate/Company Law, Civil law, Criminal Law, Commercial Law, Family Law, and Refugee Law amongst others. Such exposure has allowed David to gain experience representing clients for litigation purposes in a multitude of cases.

In the last few years David has specialized and excelled in the area of corporate law and all ancillary corporate services provided by the firm. Such role involves services such as corporate formation and structuring, opening of corporate bank accounts with leading Banks as well as the drafting and preparation of all corporate documentation and assisting on any corporate requests.

David is currently pursuing a Masters degree (M.A.) at the University of Malta in Financial Services and is completing his thesis entitled The Director’s Disqualification Order. A critical analysis of Article 320 of the Companies Act and its application in practice.
